Black Friday ~ What's in Your Cart?

I don't know about you, but I have never gone shopping on Black Friday!  That's the day we put up our Christmas tree & start decorating.  But, with Thanksgiving being so late this year, we started decorating this weekend.  Our main tree isn't up yet, and only my kitchen bird tree is decorated.  With a good head start on my whole-house Christmas decor, I may just hit a store or two.  But, if I do decide to stay at home, I can still get some great deals ~ and so can you!  I'm joining a group of TpT sellers for a $1.00 Black Friday Sale.  (It goes live on Friday.)

Final Five for Friday in May

It's already the last Friday of May!  With only five more days of school to go, I find myself asking, "Where did the time go?"  I do love summer vacation, but I am going to miss my little cuties.  This has been a GREAT year (wild winter weather & all).

2.  Making "ten rods" with pony beads!  My Kinders had so much fun stringing pony beads onto chenille stems to make ten rods.  I now have more than a class set of ten rods ~ and they are fun & colorful!  After the littles strung them on the stems, my middle & high school helpers curled up the ends to secure the beads.  (I teach in a K - 12 building, so I am lucky to have "big kids" volunteer in my classroom!)

We used ten frames to keep track of the beads before placing them on the stems.

We used our beads to play this fun game from one of Deanna Jump's amazing Guiding Kinders Math sets.  Check out the awesomeness HERE.

3.  With report card testing done, we have had a little more free time in our days this week!  My little students have worked so hard, and learned so much this year.  I am happy to let them take some time for creative outlets! 

4. Memorial Day family "picnic."  Well, we ate our meal inside, but we did spend a lot of time outdoors.  My house boasts an absolutely fabulous covered front porch (my favorite summertime hangout!).  My precious granddaughters had fun playing in the turtle sandbox!

5.  Horsey Girls!  Ten month old Amelia takes after her mom ~ she loves the horses!  (Try to ignore how dirty Alice is ~ she seriously needs a bath!  lol)

Isabella & Olivia are just like their aunt and cousin when it comes to horsing around!  Isabella has discovered that the ramp to the manure spreader makes a good balance beam.  Isabella likes to hop on Alice whenever she can.  This was Olivia's first try at being an equestrian!

Spring Cleaning & a $1.00 Sale

My spring break is coming to a close...  I didn't go anywhere warm or do anything exciting, but I did have a nice week off.  I spent lots of time with my daughters & granddaughters, went to lunch with some friends, and generally did nothing.  The weather was pretty yucky ~ we had snow on more than one day, but I'm not complaining (OK ~ maybe I am complaining about the weather).  While I didn't do any spring cleaning around my house, I am doing a little in my TpT store!  My entire store is at least 20% off until Monday & I am joining my fellow Indiana teachers in a one day one dollar sale.  So, hop over to my store to stock up on some items to use this year & next.

It's the Last Day of January!

Where did the time go?  I don't think we had one normal week this month.  We started three days later than scheduled this month, a number of two hour delays, and just this week two more days off because of the cold.  Another possible Polar Vortex (or some other sort of cold weather nonsense) is forecasted for next week.  Yes, I know I live near in Indiana not too far from Lake Michigan, but this is getting ridiculous! But, maybe the groundhog will turn things around this Sunday!  :-)

But, it is Friday ~ and time for another Five for Friday linky!

State Superintendent of Public Education Glenda Ritz visited our school today because of our National Blue Ribbon status.  She was gracious and friendly ~ I was happy that she agreed to pose with me for my blog!

I asked my Kinders if they knew what Sunday was...  Their answers were in this order: #1.  "My sister's birthday." #2. Super Bowl Sunday #3 Groundhog's Day.  I thought it was funny that so many kiddos replied "Super Bowl Sunday!"  I guess they must be the children of football fans!  We made these cute Groundhog puppets last year ~ the kids had so much fun with them, that we did it this year, too.  They had fun decorating the inside of their groundhogs' burrows - the one above is at "Groundhog school."  They also wrote Winter on one side & Spring on the other side.
