Wordless Wednesday

I can't believe it's Wednesday again!  Here's another link up with Sugar and Spice.

The Manipulative Center.  Do your kids get time for free-choice activities (AKA play)?

  1. When I had a regular classroom we did take time to play everyday- either with indoor games or outside recess! We all need some down time during the day!

  2. My kids do not get any time for free-choice/play. It's very sad. We even structure indoor recess now, we were told no more games and toys. I used to try to squeeze some in during math centers, but that's not supposed to happen either. This looks really fun, I'm jealous!

    1. Oh dear! I am so glad that our district understands the value of play. I hope your administrators will change their thinking ~ for the sake of the kids.

  3. We have it in a couple of different ways. During our recess time after lunch we have Passive Play, where students who aren't coping outside during play get to go inside and play with toys where a teacher is supervising closely. I also have an hour per week in my own classroom when we have 'free time'. At the moment my kids favourite activity during free time is to build a cubby in the book corner and all cram themselves in to play with puppets and read magazines! Love the way they play!
