Five for Friday & Cyber Sale Linky

Thanksgiving is behind us, and now the Christmas season can officially begin (I do have to admit that I've been listening to Christmas music for about a month).  Don't get me wrong ~ I love Thanksgiving!  It's my favorite meal of the year.  But, I love, love, love Christmas!  The music, the decorations, the family time, the Reason for the Season!

1.  I left my camera at school (DOH!), so I had to use my phone on Thanksgiving, so the pictures aren't very clear.

Sarah made this cute & tasty veggie tray.

We turned the dining room table sideways & pushed another one up to it so all eleven of us could sit comfortably.  It was sad not setting a place for my mother this year.  But, I'm sure she would be happy that we had such a nice gathering.

Hubby getting ready to carve the turkey.  Our neighbors raise turkeys, and give us one each year ~ yummy!

Amelia in her turkey tutu! Emily makes sure she is dressed for the holidays ~ she made her tutu and matching headband.  It's hard to see it in the picture, but her bib had a turkey on it.  Gobble gobble!

Isabella fell asleep in Papa's arms after dinner.

Olivia hamming it up for the camera.

We were surprised when Gabrielle's Marine boyfriend showed up at our front door!

2.  Getting ready for Christmas!  I put up five Christmas trees ~ needless to say it's a big job!  With Thanksgiving being so late this year, I really feel behind.

Oh how I wish I had my real camera!  Olivia had fun with the "soft" ornaments.

Isabella being silly.

Five For Friday ~ Saturday

It's Five for Friday time, and I didn't get around to taking many pictures this week ~ so my first two items are Shameless Self Promotion...

1. My new Literacy set ~ all nice and Christmasy!  I can't wait to use it!

2. My new Math set - it's Christmasy, too!

3.  Yay!  The red cups make me happy.  Last Sunday Sarah & I went to a CPR certification class, and then stopped at Starbucks before heading home.  I love the fact that my three daughters and I are close.  We have so much fun together!

4. This is the only picture I took all week ~ I seriously was a slacker!  These baskets were some of the freebies I got at the "Free Teacher Store" last week.  We were allowed to take a stack of them ~ I think I got ten baskets.  These hold Word Work activities.

5.  My daughter Gabrielle works for an advertizing agency.  One of her clients is a local car dealership who wanted her agency to help with some TV ads.  She went to the dealership to oversee the shooting of the commercial and was very surprised when they asked her to be in the commercial.  It only airs on cable ~ we live on the "other side of the ditch" and can't get cable at our house (really) ~ so I've only seen it on YouTube, but I've had friends & family say they saw it on TV!

Has Anyone Seen My Turkey?

I stumbled upon this gem of a freebie on Teachers pay Teachers last week and just HAD to use it!

                                            Disguise a Turkey Project FREEBIE

I copied the turkey onto card stock and sent it home with my Kinders for a fun family project.  They are so cute and creatively decorated.  The freebie included a writing page, so I had my kiddos write a descriptive paper about their turkeys.  I am pretty happy with how this project turned out ~ it's a keeper! I will definitely do it again next year.

Holy Cow! I'm Posting My Five on Friday!

Wow!  I feel on top of things ~ as long as I try not to think about my Bin of Shame on the floor behind my desk...  Every year I vow to not allow stuff to pile up, and I've been pretty good so far this year.  I stayed after for a little while to work on my Literacy & Math stations for next week, and it happened ~ the dreaded Bin of Shame made its appearance!  You know the one ~ an innocent looking little bin that holds a couple of things you need to sort through that somehow morphs into a huge pile of "I was wondering where that was!" by the end of the year.  I am determined not to allow this little white bin turn into an unwieldy pile!  If it's rainy this weekend, I may spend a couple of hours in my classroom to rid myself of the Bin of Shame as well as the Piles of Shame that are lurking in the corners waiting to pounce while I'm benchmark testing my Kinders.

We had a CrAzY week ~ it snowed on Tuesday.  Seriously... it's still November!  Needless to say my little Midwestern Kinders reacted to the white stuff as if they had just been dropped here from the Equator and were seeing snow for the very first time.  Of course, not everyone had snow pants & boots yet, so that lead to a chorus of "Why can't I play in the snow?"  Happily it is pretty much gone, so recess has gone back to normal.  Let's see, we had fire & lockdown drills, three birthdays, a full moon is on its way, and today was  reward  that they had been looking forward to all week.  Oh, and I got observed.

Anyway, despite all craziness, my little cuties made me proud & made me smile.  Here are five things from this week.  Happy Friday!

1. The Pilgrims crowd into the Mayflower!  The Kinders made these adorable pilgrims for our hallway bulletin board using a cute craftivity from Kindergarten Smiles.
OK, so I work with some amazing people ~ some amazing people with a sense of humor.  When my class was at recess, and I was working on things in my room, they added a little more details to my bulletin board!
The plane! The plane!  Love Boat!

2. Reward Day. My Kinders filled their class ten frames last week.  Yay!  For their reward we had Stuffed Animal Day today!  They brought their favorite - small - plush friend to school today.  Here they are reading -at family flip books to their friends.

3.  We broke out the glitter today!  I like to use the lids of copier paper cartons as "glitter stations."  A piece of construction paper makes pouring the glitter back into the little apple sauce containers.  Some of my glitter stations are over five years old!

4.  Yesterday my Kinder Diva partners and I  went to Elkhart to the Free Teacher store to do a little "shopping."  Well, it's not really shopping if it's all free is it?  Anyway, here is a picture of us with our overflowing shopping carrs.

5.  My newest product!  Check it out HERE!

I have a companion set for literacy.  You have until tomorrow (11/16/13) to enter to win this set.  Click HERE to enter.

Ta Da!  My Five for Friday!

Five for Friday - on Sunday

Hi!  It's been such a long time since I've done anything with my blog.  The month of October was pretty much a blur ~ my mother passed away after two weeks of home hospice care.  She had dementia, and for the past two years we watched as our once vibrant and talented mother shrank into a teeny little lady in a wheelchair.  She held on for two full weeks as six of her seven children gathered around (one brother lives in Florida and wasn't able to be here the whole time).  It was a difficult time, but we spent time chatting, laughing, and crying together.  Even though she couldn't participate in the conversations, I'm sure she enjoyed hearing it.  It was terrible and good at the same time.  She is now whole ~ singing, quilting, and walking hand in hand with our father.

1.  My wonderful mother.  May she rest in peace.

2.  Last Sunday Emily & I went for a walk at the Indiana National Lakeshore.  It was a beautiful autumn day!  We didn't go by the lake, but hiked on trails that we have been visiting since the girls were little.

Amelia hitched a ride on Mommy.  She stayed snug and warm!

The Bailly Homestead  When the girls were younger, this old house was open on Sundays.  Sadly, lack of funding for national parks has shuttered the doors.  I'm happy that we can at least walk around this historical home.  Located on the Little Calumet River, this was the home of fur trader Joseph Bailly.

3. Macie in a cat food bag.  She loves it when the cat food bag is empty ~ it makes a tasty hiding place!

4.  My two newest products.
